Happy Chicks Foundation
Nurturing seeds. Growing communities.
It Started With Seeds
Seeds don’t always look like seeds. Sometimes they come as eggs in a nest, sometimes as grapes on a vine, sometimes it comes in your backyard when you are working and you feel what should be a chore is bringing only happiness.
Seeds — the things that grow into something, if you nurture them.
Berry bushes, fruit trees, garden beds, beehives, and a small flock of chickens can all thrive together in an urban backyard. When a young person walks through that gate and finds a peach hanging from a branch, gathers a warm egg from the nest, or pulls honey from the comb — that becomes a moment when the ordinary feels extraordinary.
And that’s a seed.
Finding the Seeds
Happy Chicks Foundation grew from a simple idea: seeds hide everywhere, and most people walk right past them.
A backyard full of overgrown grass becomes a garden. A pile of scrap wood becomes a chicken coop. A morning chore becomes a small business. A young person looking for a way to earn money — that’s a seed. Show them a skill, and watch what grows.
The foundation plants those same lessons — not through lectures or workbooks, but through the actual work. Plant a row of lettuce. Collect the eggs. Harvest the honey. Share what you’ve grown. That’s the curriculum.
The Garden
Raised beds, fruit trees, herbs, and berries open to the community. A place where people learn to grow food and share the harvest.
The Flock
Chickens that lay eggs every morning. Eggs that travel to neighbors, that become ingredients, that teach a young person how a product moves from source to sale.
The Bees
Hives that pollinate the garden and fill the comb with honey. A living lesson in how ecosystems work — and how good things multiply.
Youth Micro-Enterprise
Ideas, skills, and guidance for young people who want to earn, create, and build. Baking, preserving, selling at market — real work with real results.

Every backyard has different light, different soil, different needs.
What thrives here may not thrive there. But the principle is the same: find what grows, and help it along.
Happy Chicks Foundation finds seeds in communities and helps them grow. Not a complicated mission. Not a flashy one. Just people, soil, animals, and ideas — tended with care.
